Building partnerships that strengthen Alberta and its partners
Microsoft is widely recognized as a global powerhouse when it comes to cloud-based software, and local startup Clinisys Inc. created a cloud-based technology that drew the powerhouse to Alberta.
On Wednesday, April 12, Deron Bilous, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, joined Alberta Innovates CEO Laura Kilcrease and a host of others to announce and congratulate Clinisys EMR Inc. and the Microsoft Corporation on their partnership.
The partnership will see Clinisys’ cloud-based emergency medical record (EMR) software deployed through Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform. This virtual setup will do away with the need for any physical infrastructure where the Clinisys EMR is used. The transition from physical servers to the Azure platform and Microsoft Dynamics hosting services will also provide enhanced security for patient information.
Timely and effective access to patients’ medical records will help health care professionals do their work more quickly and efficiently.
Alberta Innovates role
Alberta Innovates strategically supports innovation and entrepreneurship through a number of different programs, and Clinisys was able to take full advantage of three of these:
- Health Product Demonstration Pilot Program (currently, the Clinical Demonstration Program) in 2013-2014,
- Voucher Program in 2013, and
- Product Demonstration Program in 2016.
