Alberta Bio Future, Equipment Utilization
Alberta Bio Future (ABF) and its sub-programs focus primarily on projects that add value to biomass in agriculture and forestry, and create new and improved bioindustrial products and bioindustrial technologies.
The ABF Equipment Utilization sub-program has been open to applications from companies and sole proprietors based in Alberta. Its focus is on the scale-up and pilot development of bioindustrial products and bioindustrial technologies.
About the program
The Alberta Bio Future, Equipment Utilization sub-program was launched March 12, 2015.
Companies with eligible projects are supported in their use of publicly owned equipment for the mechanical conversion of biomass. This equipment is available on a fee-for-service basis:
Eligible projects include some or all of the following activities:
- Scale-up, pilot, pre-commercial and commercial processing activities, biomass conversion and characterization.
- Biomass characterization with direct application to the bioindustrial sector.
Information on biomass characterization developed in the projects will be made publicly available to advance the bioindustrial sector.
