Strategic Clinical Networks

Strategic Clinical Networks

We work with the SCNs to help develop a culture and capacity for research development and use in the health system.

Strategic Clinical Networks are the engines for change in the health system. Teams composed of researchers, physicians, patients and managers work in specific areas of health with the goal of finding new and innovative ways of delivering care that will provide better quality, better outcomes and better value for every Albertan.

SCN™/MEDEC Workshop: Partnering for Health System Innovation in Alberta

On June 24, 2015, Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions and partners brought the province’s Strategic Clinical Networks™ (SCN™) and several of MEDEC’s member companies together for a workshop to discuss how best to match industry innovation with health system needs.

The event was attended by several senior executives of Canada’s medical device industry and senior leaders of the province’s health innovation ecosystem. The goal was to cooperate and jointly identify opportunities to create a mutually productive relationship in support of the work of the SCNs™, and to identify barriers, issues, and challenges to consider moving forward.

The summary report, commissioned by AIHS and prepared by the Institute of Health Economics, entitled Partnering for Health System Innovation in Alberta provides a summary of the event and contains recommendations for moving forward.
