Program Details

Projects that meet the program eligibility criteria will be considered for funding. Up to $3.8 million is available to March 31, 2026 for Service Capacity projects (up to 24 months per project). Funding requests can be up to, but not exceed, $500,000. Proposed projects should clearly and directly enable the creation of tangible impacts in Alberta. Projects should be able to show direct measurable benefits, or to quantify indirect benefits, in at least one of the following areas:

  • Hydrogen production;
  • Transmission/storage/transportation/dispensing;
  • Storage (mobile, surface and subsurface);
  • End use (residential, commercial and industrial); and
  • Export.

Application Process

Submissions to the Services Capacity program will be evaluated using a two-stage application process. Proposals should be submitted electronically using the Intake form managed via the SmartSimple online intake system.

Once in the SmartSimple online intake system, use the following steps to access the appropriate form:

  1. Click on “Funding Opportunities.”
  2. Go to “Clean Resources Continuous Intake Program” and click “Apply Now.”
  3. Click “save draft” first to open up a new intake form.
  4. Under the “Technology Portfolio/Focus Area” tab, select “HCOE – Service Capacity” from the drop-down menu.

Timeline

This funding is available on a continuous intake basis. Projects are expected to take less than 24 months to complete. Funding is available until March 31, 2026.
