SUMMARY:New technology for well remediation and decommissioning
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to attend an upcoming public webinar exploring emerging approaches to a critical issue in oil and gas operations: long-term wellbore sealing.   \nCement has long been the go-to material for sealing wellbores. But in complex situations—especially remediation and permanent plugging—its limitations are increasingly clear. With environmental risks and financial liabilities tied to leaking wells\, the demand for alternatives is on the rise.  \nJonathan Heseltine \nJoin our host Jonathan Heseltine from InnoTech Alberta as he explores promising new technologies that aim to improve sealing performance\, reduce emissions\, and enhance long-term well integrity.  \n  \n  \n  \nJoining Jonathan are the following experts:  \n\nOleg Ishkov – CEO\, Rockit \n\n\nCraig Brown – Owner\, Underground Vision Technologies \n\n\nLennox Leotaud – Technical Marketing Supervisor\, Well Armour Inc.  \n\nThis is a great opportunity to hear directly from innovators at the forefront of well sealing solutions and to learn how novel barrier technologies are being deployed in real-world applications.  \nIf you are a field operator\, regulator\, or a potential technology vendor working in this space\, InnoTech Alberta should be their first call for consultation and testing. Contact Doug.Podmore@innotechalberta.ca for more information.  \n

SUMMARY:Building the Well Remediation Toolbox 2
DESCRIPTION:This is a webinar series hosted by InnoTech Alberta on the use of alternative materials and emerging technologies in wellbore remediation and decommissioning. This is the second of our Well Remediation Toolbox webinar series. \nWellbore leakage affects all types and ages of oil and gas wells in both onshore and offshore settings. Evidence suggests that using alternative products and technologies will significantly improve well remediation outcomes while potentially lowering the number of interventions for vent flow remediation and reducing industry costs. \nConsidering the complexity of well remediation and closure operations\, operators need a diverse toolbox of technologies to choose from. This InnoTech Alberta webinar provides an opportunity to learn about new developments from industry leaders while discussing experiences and challenges across the industry. \nTalks will explore four technologies with a technical focus\, including: \n\nmaterial characteristics;\nsuitable applications;\nplacement and operational practices;\ncase studies;\nlaboratory testing;\nfield trials; and\nsupporting technologies with presentations from technology companies.\n\nThese presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period with each webinar’s featured speakers. \nFor our second webinar\, three speakers will be featured: \n\nRyan Wilton\, SNF\nKyle Roebuck\, BASF\nMike McDonald\, National Silicates\nChristian Rosnes\, Interwell\n\nRegister today and join us on Oct. 31 to build your well-remediation toolbox!

SUMMARY:Using Isotopes to Study Climate-Related Changes in Our Water Resources
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next edition of the Water Innovation series on Alberta Innovates Unbound. The impacts of climate change can be clearly seen in our water resources. In Alberta\, water quality is changing\, and water supply is more variable and increasingly uncertain due to extreme weather events. Stable isotopes have been used to investigate water balance processes\, and the relationships between hydrology\, vegetation and ecosystems. These tools can help build an accurate baseline of water resources to better understand potential future states. \nThis webinar brings together four researchers who are using isotopes in different ways to characterize how climate change is affecting our water. \nSpeakers \n\nDr. Tricia Stadnyk\, Professor & Canada Research Chair\, University of Calgary\nFrancisco Castrillon Munoz\, M.Sc.\, P.Geo.\, Senior Researcher – Environmental Services\, InnoTech Alberta\nDr. John Gibson\, Principal Researcher – Environmental Services\, InnoTech Alberta\nDr. Bernhard Mayer\, Professor\, University of Calgary
