All applications are first reviewed and evaluated by Alberta Innovates to determine fit with the CASBE Program objectives and intended outcomes. We evaluate applications based on:

  • Eligibility criteria for the applicant, the industry partner, and the proposed project, as stated in the guideline,
  • Merit indicators followed by NSERC. The applicants are advised to check the criteria on the NSERC website for the specific program they are applying to for funding. For example, Alliance grants merit indicators are: i) Relevance and outcomes; ii) Partnership; iii) Quality of the proposal; and iv) Training.
  • All applicants are strongly recommended to demonstrate adequately the practice of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in their project plan.

Above is just an excerpt of the evaluation process. More details can be found in the Program Guide.
