Home > Impact > Funded Projects > Producing High-Value Nanostructured Metal Carbide (TiC) from Bitumen Coke
The objective of this project was to develop a technology pathway for synthesizing high-value nanostructured titanium carbide (TiC) from high-sulfur bitumen coke. Two well-developed technologies (mechanical alloying and thermal treatment) were applied in the process, with potential low capital investment and energy consumption. The proposed technology pathway has the potential to contribute to a diversified, lower-carbon economy for Alberta.
