Value-Added Opportunities for Alberta Asphalt Binder in Road Construction

This research project will take the Hesp lab know-how developed over the last 30 years directly to user agencies around North America, in order to promote the benefits of quality Alberta binder. Currently used materials from a large number of provincial, state, and municipal users will be assessed for true performance characteristics, and results benchmarked against superior Alberta asphalt properties. Interested agencies will be engaged for the construction of a large number of ‘real world’ pavement demonstration projects during a second phase of the program.
