Alberta is experiencing extreme drought conditions coming into spring. The province, municipalities, industry, and communities and special interest groups are all concerned about the impact lack of water will have on our economy, quality of life and the environment.

Alberta’s innovation ecosystem, which includes researchers and subject matter experts across the province, knows it will take more than just taking shorter showers and not watering our lawns to address this issue. They are working to develop the research, technology and best practices need to address the most pressing water issues and plan for the future.

By holding a short high level panel discussion with a broad range of water innovation ecosystem stakeholders (crown, municipal and rural), we showcase the provinces broad wealth of knowledge in this area and highlight the ways innovation and research are helping to plan for and manage Alberta’s water supply, now and into the future.

Panelists:

Karen Garth, senior manager, issues communications, Alberta Innovates (Host)
Mark Summers, associate vice president, Agriculture and Environment, Alberta Innovates
Pamela Duncan, team lead, Environment Strategy, City of Calgary
Margo Jarvis Redelback, executive director, Alberta Irrigation Districts Association
