Verne is developing a first-of-its-kind Class 8 truck powered by cryo-compressed hydrogen, a storage method that increases hydrogen density to improve range and payload capacity for heavy-duty vehicles. The project involves retrofitting a diesel truck with a dual-fuel engine capable of running on both diesel and cryo-compressed hydrogen. In partnership with the Alberta Motor Transport Association and local fleets, Verne will test and demonstrate the truck’s performance, showcasing the potential of cryo-compressed hydrogen as a viable zero-emission fuel for the trucking industry.
