Senior Leadership Transition at Alberta Innovates

“The Board of Directors for Alberta Innovates is embarking on a significant leadership transition as it looks to a bold new strategic direction that will advance our role as Alberta’s innovation engine. 

Effective immediately, CEO Laura Kilcrease is no longer with Alberta Innovates.

I want to thank Laura for her leadership over the past seven years. Her hard work and commitment to Alberta Innovates and to growing our province’s research and innovation sector is appreciated, particularly in seeing through the implementation of the five-year strategic plan that took us to the end of 2023.

A new interim CEO will be announced in the coming days. Until then, Lyn Brown, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, will assume the role of acting CEO.

With five recent, new appointments to the Board of Directors, the governance of Alberta Innovates is charting a new course  – one that we look forward to navigating with our dedicated and competent employees across the province, and with our many partners and stakeholders in research and innovation. 

Changes in leadership are a natural part of any organization’s growth and evolution, and that is true for Alberta Innovates. Additional perspectives, energy and skill sets will be integral to developing and implementing our next strategic plan on which work will begin immediately.”
