Home > Impact > Funded Projects > The Open Access Wabamun Carbon Hub’s CO₂ Storage Development and Optimization Project
This project supports the development of a deep saline CO₂ storage reservoir and caprock seals at the Wabamun Carbon Hub in Alberta. It aims to enable industrial-scale carbon capture by enhancing geological understanding and advancing monitoring and verification strategies.
The project involves completing a 3D seismic program and developing static and dynamic reservoir models to assess injectivity, capacity, and containment of the Basal Sandstone Unit (BSU). The initiative supports Heidelberg Materials’ CO₂ capture project and contributes to Alberta’s leadership in carbon management and clean technology innovation.
