Membrane filtration has long been considered a viable and effective water treatment technology that is capable of cleaning water to drinking water quality. However, membranes often come at a high cost and can easily foul under industrial conditions, requiring regular maintenance efforts and/or replacement. Speakers will share insights into why oilsands operators are considering membrane-based technologies and dive into some the latest research addressing the shortcomings of membranes in industrial settings.
