Our Vision and Values

Our Vision

To be indisputably recognized as a leader – provincially, nationally, and internationally – in catalyzing research and innovation in Alberta.

Core Principles

Like the air we breathe, our core principles of accountability, integrity and respect give life and meaning to our work and the impact we make in our organization, provincially and globally.

  • Accountability
  • Integrity
  • Respect

Our Values

Our values aren’t just words. They guide our decision-making; they inspire us to do better and build a great workplace culture.  Our Five Cs are commitment, collaboration, can-do spirit, curiosity, and creativity, and they mean something different to every employee. That’s why we don’t define them.

  • Creativity
  • Curiosity
  • Can-do Spirit
  • Collaboration
  • Commitment

Through our SpotlightU program, employees recognize and celebrate the ways their colleagues embody these values daily in ways small and large.

Our Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

Alberta Innovates and InnoTech Alberta embrace and uphold the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in our workplaces. We are committed to fostering an innovation ecosystem in Alberta intertwined with and inseparable from the principles of EDI and a work environment that wholly embraces these principles. As an employer of choice, we are dedicated to regularly embedding EDI best practices into our day-to-day operations. We welcome the contributions of all Albertans, whether as colleagues, innovators, stakeholders, or residents of our province.

Members of our internal EDI Council serve as visible and vocal advocates of our commitment to EDI and encourage EDI in all levels, areas, and programs of the organization. The Council is dedicated to creating a company environment at Alberta Innovates and InnoTech Alberta where everyone can contribute as their authentic selves, without fear of harassment, prejudice, or discrimination based on, and not limited to, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education, or disability.

All employees can participate in opportunities for learning, including the Government of Alberta’s Indigenous Introductory Training and Indigenous Cultural Protocol Training, as well as ongoing sessions and discussions on subjects such as Truth and Reconciliation and 2SLGBTQ+. Organizational EDI standards provide uniform direction, support and guidance for all employees, and our organizational values of accountability, integrity, and respect inform our approach to EDI and our commitment to continual improvement.
